| Mystis is the educational, non-profit branch of 7 Centers Yoga Arts focused
on community outreach. Our first program is called The Children's
Project. It is a program for parents to be with their children.
It is a program that has two goals: Educating and supporting families
through conscious conception, birth as a natural and sacred rite
of passage, and conscious parenting and creating a network of support
for parents and children so they can thrive within a "village" community.
These are some of the classes that we offer as a part of our core
program. Stay tuned for more......
Yoga
for Moms & Babies
This class supports the mother and her baby within
a "village" following the birth. It is a support
group that exchanges information about the challenges of raising
a newborn and the pressures that are put on the relationship between
her partner and herself. The class teaches
asana and methods of relaxation through breathing techniques
for moms who are on a 24/7 schedule of caring for the infant. Tools
to stay centered and reduce stress are practiced in every meeting. It also
gathers children together from 4 weeks to 3 years old. This begins
social interaction at a young age for the children and helps the
mothers to feel they are not alone during this new and challenging
lifestyle change.
This class is $3 on Tuesdays 10:30-12pm.
All
classes are facilitated by Kathleen Bryant and apprentices of the program.
Mystis'
second program is The Teacher Training Project.
This month long program is the foundation for training teachers
interested in integrating yoga into the needs of their communities
like the Children's Project both nationally and internationally.
Applicants apply from around the world to undergo a complete and
systematic study of yoga. There is a minimum 200 hours standard
which includes: techniques, teaching methodology, anatomy and physiology,
philosophy, ethics, lifestyle, practicum and electives.
